Canon Speaking Engagement
In January, I presented two talks at the Canon Experience Center in Costa Mesa, CA. I spoke to a group of students in one session, and a group of adult photographers in the other session. Each talk was followed by a live demo and Q&A.

British Columbia Expedition
In July, I traveled with a moss biologist to Haida Gwaii off the coast of British Columbia to document her fieldwork and the rare moss species she was in search of. Her goal is to obtain conservation statuses for 4 species of moss that do not currently have a listed status, but are threatened by conservation issues such as deforestation.

I also celebrated my 26th birthday while on expedition! It was great. I made lots of new friends and had a fresh pie in the middle of an island!
In August, I traveled to Ecuador's Chocó Rainforest (of which there is ony %2 remaining) to carry out a baseline visual survey of some of the cryptogams (mosses, lichens, fungi, etc.) and arthropods (insects & arachnids) surrounding the Mashpi Lodge. This effort is part of an ongoing initiative titled "The Mashpi Project". Mashpi unites science, ecotourism, environmental education, and community organization to help preserve the Chocó, one of the most threatened and biodiverse rainforests on Earth. Through the work of a talented team of artists, photographers, writers, and conservationists, The Mashpi Project uses high-quality photography and visual storytelling to raise global awareness for these vanishing forests.

PhotoPlus Expo (NYC)
From 25-28 Oct. I attended my first PhotoPlus Expo in New York City as part of Canon USA's team. This was a very productive and exciting trip for me to meet more team members with Canon USA, host two mini-workshop sessions (which sold out!), connect with some great companies & brands, and expand my professional network. I'll be sharing images from this later on in the year, so stay tuned!
Publication in PDN Magazine

Really exciting news! Last week I found out that my proposal for National Geographic's Young Explorer Grant program was accepted! What's this mean? Well, this August I will lead an expedition over 1,000mi around Iceland to document the species diversity, ecosystems, and cultures surrounding lichens! I'm really excited to become a part of the Young Explorer community, and am really looking forward to this expedition!
I'll post more details about the project sometime in the near future, but for now here's a little more general info:
